Some covers don’t even need to be roasted — they roast themselves just by existing. The Nexus is one of those. This design hinges entirely on a single glowing orb, and unfortunately, that orb looks less like a mysterious interdimensional portal and more like a plasma ball from Spencer’s Gifts circa 1998.

The “big reveal” is just… a sphere. A giant, electric jawbreaker hovering above a vaguely metallic floor pattern that might be a summoning circle, or maybe just an unfinished game of cosmic Twister. Instead of mystery or power, it radiates the energy of a Windows 95 screensaver on caffeine.

Surrounding the orb? Absolutely nothing. Just empty, cavernous void space. No figures, no action, no stakes — just negative space so vast you wonder if the designer left halfway through and never came back.

And then there’s the typography. “THE NEXUS” is supposed to look bold and epic, but the giant “N” awkwardly chops through the word “THE” like it was dropped in by accident. Below, the subtitle “season one – episode nine” drains any drama, making the whole thing feel like a Netflix error message.

Meanwhile, “Sara Blake” is so big and bold it nearly overshadows the actual title. At thumbnail size, this book isn’t The Nexus — it’s Sara Blake, proudly brought to you by her glowing electric marble.

The verdict? Instead of an epic sci-fi fantasy vibe, The Nexus looks like someone put a novelty plasma lamp on the cover and hoped no one would notice. Forget powerful energy source or mystical portal — this is a clearance-bin electronics purchase masquerading as a novel.
